How to Charge What You’re Worth


– (sighs) Sometimes, figuring out how to charge what you’re worth can feel like trying to crack a code. I’ve already solved this for you, though. Stay tuned and I’m gonna
give you my best tips for charging what you’re worth today. Oftentimes, I see and hear
entrepreneurs who massively undercharge for the work and value that they provide to their
clients and customers. I wanna challenge you to start
charging what you’re worth. The first step in this process
is a little bit interesting because chances are, you
might not be valuing yourself for the real worth and value you bring to your clients and customers. I want you to start
recognizing whether or not you believe you are worthy of good and great and wonderful things. A good way to test this
out, a good friend of mine, Kat Hollister-Whitney, is
to go and stand outside of an expensive house,
perhaps it’s your dream house, or if you’re more of a vacation person, to shop for your dream vacation. What comes to mind? Do you instantly have those
feelings of insecurity, like I haven’t done
enough to deserve this? If those are the feelings
that you experience when it comes to things
that are expensive, it is absolutely affecting your ability to charge what you are worth. I want you to start programming your head with the thoughts of I am worthy of every good and wonderful thing. I take care of my clients. I love my customers. And that alone is reason enough to charge high ticket prices. Another common mistake I see when people start to think about high ticket services, is they assume that they
have to just keep on tacking on more and more and more, and before you know it,
that high ticket client is actually taking up all of your time. Suddenly, you’ve got a job. It’s not what you would always dream of. I want you to think
about it a different way. What if high ticket isn’t
about providing more? It’s about providing better. I’ve worked with people
who have sent in invoices, and I’ve asked for let’s
say a two-page set of copy. And they end up writing 10 pages of copy, thinking I’m going to over deliver so I can feel worthy of that high ticket price that I’m about to charge her. The reality is, I never
ask for 10 pages of copy. I wanted two. I wanted someone who
came and saved me time, hassle, saved me the learning curve of trying to figure it out myself. When you bring better to your clients, you are absolutely worthy of high ticket. Avoid the trap of feeling
like you need to consistently tack on more, or work more, or appear busy in order to be worthy
of high ticket pricing. My final tip for charging
what you’re worth, whoo, this one’s heavy. Don’t bill with your own wallet in mind. This was one that took me a long time to wrap my head around. I grew up in a household where there was never a lot of money. I remember my parents
didn’t really have savings. I remember checks bouncing quite a bit. And when we said we didn’t have the money, it was because literally there was no money in the bank account. I didn’t realize there are a ton of people who have savings, who have credit cards. There are people who don’t
live paycheck to paycheck, and there are people that
make more than $30,000 a year. This was a big a-ha for me as I realize that billing with my own
wallet and my own experiences in mind was going to keep me from charging the high ticket prices that I knew the value I had was worth. I assumed no one has that kind of money, just because that’s what my experiences had lead me to believe. But I want you to start
to look around you. How many people do you know that charge high ticket prices, five figure packages, six figure packages? There are even consultants
who charge seven or eight figure packages, and the reason that they were able to
start charging that, what they were worth is
because they absolutely didn’t shop with their own wallet. Instead, I challenge
you to start imitating and following people who are successful. What does their wallet look like? Do they finagle prices
at the car dealership? Are they getting the
cheapest coffee possible? Or, do they choose the
things that they truly want, the things that are gonna bring them the end result that they’re desiring? It’s interesting, because wealthy people truly value things differently. If that’s not something
you’ve experienced before, like I said, get around wealthy people, get around successful people. It’s amazing how much
your mindset will change as you realize that not everybody has the same bank account as you. And you’ll be really thankful for that when you start to invoice
high ticket prices. But possibly my favorite change in understanding money, income, revenue, success, and wealth,
