Business Case – PRINCE2 minutes Espresso Experience from CC Learning

Welcome to the PRINCE2 minutes
espresso experience from CC Learning,
today we are talking about the Business Case
To ensure business justification there are three questions we need to ask we need to ask about the viability,
the achieve-ability
and the desirability of the project we ask the viability question of the senior supplier.
We say ‘can we do it?’ can we produce the products defined in the project?
The next question is of the Senior User and that is achieve-ability.
‘Will we get the benefits from the project?’ When the Senior User answers this question they consider it in terms of outputs, coming from the Senior Supplier, resulting in outcomes, leading to benefits the next question asked is the desirability question of the
Executive.
The Executive asks ‘Are there net benefits?’ ‘Is there an alignment to strategy?’ and ‘Is the risk worth it?’ in addition to that we have the
Business Case Development path The first step in the Business Case Development Path is for the Project Manager and the Project Board to
develop the Business Case during the Starting up a Project process and
Initiating a Project process, next is
maintaining the Business Case which is performed by the Project Manager the Project Manager checks to see
whether risks and issues could affect
the benefits defined in the project next we have verify, verify is when
we carry out the activities of
Continued Business Justification by the Project Board, which is the Viability, Achievability and Desirability
questions we covered earlier. Finally we have confirm, this is carried out by Corporate or
Programme Management after the project or maybe the Project Manager during the project.
The examiners, they love you to know the differences between the business options
and Project Approach options. They also want you to know ‘reasons’ are not
‘benefits’, reasons are the opportunity statements or the problem
statements for the project also they want you to know that
benefits are owned by the Senior User and did you know that
Senior User chooses the business option. thank you very much for listening remember to like and to ‘subscribe’
