now before we get started let’s practice some basic on netiquette and please
silence or turn off your cell phones we did engagers engage the performers
tonight now another night Rocking
let me introduce you our first performer of the night and our Robinson she will
be telling you a story and I will start like your tie
I heard a shriek and then I turned around there was a man on the ground he
didn’t look like she was breathing I wasn’t sure what to do but I knew I’d
have to do something in that moment this is a story about something you’re in
states in dire situations I call it don’t let your child paint on
me now that all started when I got my first job I work with children so of
course need to know CPR first aid basics and that’s actually really excited to
get the certification it has always been on my bucket list so I wanted to the
class and I was walking with an adult-sized dummy so when you’re
performing CPR you’ve got pressed out of a chest 30 times and then you breathe
twice so we practiced on this adult-sized dummy for several minutes so
married once twice got it down next we’re working with Pete and his I son
now my sister had one solve but you’re not careful with this tummy something
bad might happen I thought okay I got this I already did you go find me how
are you working on an input besides the baby’s so pressing pressing pressing
great once twice and off of the dummy flew the infant’s chest I have just
killed my baby well luckily everyone else was too busy
saving their own child to notice that I had killed mine so I went and you’re off
the chassis put it back on it’s headed like nothing had happened
but someone did notice my instructor looked at me and said I saw that then
she walked over to me plan means that stop the class stop the class beast she
did not listen to my instructions and now her child is dead
I was mortified everybody knew I it was a murderer I was going to get my own
episode of 1000 ways to die I’m sure I was in the past this class
but luckily I did it I wasn’t really confident in myself I mean what I really
did not perform CPR one day well flash forward to a few months later I was at a
graduation party with my family we were eating out of table and that’s when we
heard the shriek and we turned and we saw a man underground you don’t like
this meeting in that moment I knew I had to do something I thought I have CPR
training I can do this I’m gonna save this man’s life and I’m going to be
recognized by the city of Long Beach for being a hero I just killed an infant
dummy a couple of months ago what makes me qualified to do this all of a sudden
the whole piece down started 20 minutes in my head there was a man on the ground
there I don’t know what I was doing doubting myself but luckily there was a
nurse at the party and she knew CPR so she informed to hang herself I decided I
should do something so I called my new lines holding the situation and they
came rushing and Monday the man was okay I was so glad there was someone else at
the party needs help and that I was able to help myself but then I thought what
if it hadn’t been there what no one else at the party News yard what would I have
done I think all the times you find yourself in situations that require a
lot of bravery in a split second but we tend to doubt ourselves in that moment I
wish I was confident enough to be able to perform CPR on this man so if you
ever find yourself in a situation like mine Rainie be brave within a split
second just remember my mantra just because I tell the dummy does not mean I
am thank you next up we are going to have
Sarah Martinez performing sorry I need a sake shame my poem is about a woman who
had a husband and he cheats on her and gave her the virus HIV one thing I don’t
need it anymore apologies I got some your greeting we
have the front door you can keep your I don’t know what to doing them they don’t
open doors they don’t bring this Sunday all make me happy then nobody stopped
using my tears to watch because of sorry I am still tired of connecting I know
this is important to you I think it’s a copy of my copy cause a lot of stories I
will pay a couple my lord even message from my home because the state saw me
call somebody else because I don’t use any more on that
story oh oh you were always inconsistent doing
something and then being soggy be in my hot to death talking about you sorry
well I’m not on call I’m not going to nice I will scream and Harlem and raise
things and break things and tell all your secrets about yourself to your face
and I will this in detail everyone know how wonderful Otis and their ways oh and
I will pay all of the late now and I’m not gonna be solving for none of
it I loved you only purpose I was open on purpose I still crave
honor ability a small talk but I’m not even sorry about you be sorry you can
keep all the guilt and ground you want to just give it to me
next time you should admit you’re a mean lowdown Christman
and not count straight-up instead of you story on the downtime enjoy being
yourself next up we have balmy Gaxiola performing how to love your introvert by
having you you are almost completely misunderstood in nearly every area by
your extroverted humans in your life solitude is essential and sometimes it’s
air I breathe one we introverts are not always the best at breaking the ice so
in order to get the ball rolling we sometimes have to revert to tactics that
might seem obscure to your average extrovert
this might include subtle clearing throat gentle hand gesturing and
carefully placing routine numbers and conversations where they normally don’t
belong might be asking yourself how did I be sure that I’m actually
speaking to an introvert and not someone who simply masquerading as one well here
are few telltale signs if the person this their arm around your shoulder as
they’re introducing themselves to you for the first time probably not an
introvert if the person uses the words unwind and nightclub in the same
sentence if the person attempts to engage in any conversation whatsoever
about the weather three to set the record straight and do not hate people just pretend for a second not my desire
to socialize could be equated to my desire to exercise this would mean that
a quick jog around the block would be a lot like catching a cup of coffee with a
friend’s bar hopping with friends would be a lot like running in a six-minute
mile and my senior prom was a little bit like running the Ironman in the middle
of August now usually I don’t hate talking to people any more than they
hate a little bit of exercise but you wouldn’t challenge an Olympian to a
marathon just after they finished the race understand when I tell you that I
can’t hang out tonight right maybe it’s not because I need
maybe it’s because I’m tired or there will be many times you will be
uncomfortable in my silence unsure of how I’m feeling understand that just
because they don’t wear my heart on my sleeve for everyone to see does not mean
that my heart beats any softer than yours
don’t confuse the sound the words beating 80 beats per minute
with the music of actual conversation just because I cannot commit to the
active Smalltalk does not mean that I don’t have huge things to say and just
because I find a peace within myself does not mean that I could ever stop
wanting to love so hard because I’ve the injuries are not always the best at
breaking the ice so in order to get the ball rolling we often have to resort to
tactics that might seem absurd to your average extroverts
this may include subtle clearings of the throat gentle hand gesturing and writing
an entire poem just to say six I love you more than quiet trips to the library
I love you more than counseling Friday night plan I love you more than college
but when this world the shouting far too loudly for us to hear our own voices and
these words are cleaning far too tightly to my own chest I just want you to know
that I love you I love you I love you I can’t tell you that we lucky do is perform an informative
speech entitled mirror mirror on the wall reflections on a comment knock on wood crack you break below his
back don’t let a black cat cross the path and you bring him here still have
seven years of bad luck how many of us have heard of anything
not all of these superstitions how many of us know where any of these came from
many of these superstitions are things in records and everyday conversations
yeah not many of us know where they actually comes out and what do you
believe in that or not learning the origin of these common superstitions can
reveal a rich history that you may not be the middle area today I’ve chosen to
discuss the order to the superstition that I was conceived rumors are curious
about and one that have done a lot of my research on and that is the notion that
break a mirror will bring the seven years bad luck
first I will discuss the ancient beliefs associated with the present reflection
and lastly I will discuss why is that you know seven years of bad luck and the
cross cultural significance of the number seven to begin I will first
discuss the most important part of a mirror its ability to reduce reflection
the origin of the breaking immunity position can actually trace back far
before the creation of the person ears and is rooted in ancient beliefs
associated with a person’s reflection reflection sent a major role in many
rituals or ancient civilizations a great the classroom view and 2006
ancient Greek and Roman Oracle’s use water and crystals but more specifically
for the perfection of these two mediums for beauty and they use these reflection
as a form of divination and fortune teller the luggage is aiding in
predicting the future a person’s reflection also held less
urgent according to the Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy in 2013 the
ancient Greek Roman Indians and Africans all believed that a person’s reflection
held their soul and so in this reflection became damaged or distorted
anyway they don’t believe that there’s a solar to become damaged and distorted
and it’s really the agreed of where we get the idea that bring cue mirrors bad
luck it’s not so much that it’s violet a broken mirror but that you’ve broken
your reflection and therefore damage your soul now that you have a better
understanding of the ancient beliefs associated with the person’s reflection
I will not explain why did I say you have seven years of bad luck
seven years of bad luck the breaking year might seem kind of excessive and
maybe even a little bit random but if you look at the numbers long history you
will see that this is not the case a great sin Cyclopaedia protecta in 2018
the number seven has held a great significance across many different
cultures throughout history today a few pebbles
there’s the Rome the creation of some nui the seven three pie diagram these
pillows and the christian notions of the seven deadly sins and assembly in the
creation and it’s still not really clear where exactly the number seven comes
from of the freaky new community precision however it is believed to be
attributed to ancient Roman and Chinese belief according to the encyclopedia of
occult suburbs and hers are collagen in 1996 the ancient Romans believed that a
person’s body restores and regenerates itself every seven years similarity in
china was believed that person’s destiny renewed every 13 years and so if you
were to distort intersection damage your soul and bring misfortune upon yourself
this is fortune would continue until your body restored itself and your
destiny seven years later and that is likely to say you have seven years of
bad luck today I first important.you of the ancient beliefs
associated with the princes reflection and lastly unexplained – negative seven
years of bad luck after breaking here we here we see positioned all the time and
now hopefully you have a better understanding over one of the Contra and
maybe the nice bug back to present Friday to complete I hope my
presentation shatter your expectation and you please reflect I thank you our
next performer for this evening it’s famous subway phenom performing to the
say bye Shane wait Ben if you can’t see anything beautiful about yourself get a
better mirror look a little closer a little because there’s something inside
you that made you see charm and some points of our lives who struggle with
this thing called self-love whether we’re an elementary student dealing with
bullying or mom is trying to raise two tiers you continue to have this fight
within ourselves trying to convince us that were worthless
and as I recite to you this open word peace hopefully we all can have a
respective owners so I give you to this day by shame fortune I’m not gonna beat
you up this way surrounded by people who used to say that rhyme about sticks and
stones as if broken bones hurt more than the names that we’ve got called we
called it mom so we grew up believing that no one would ever find love with us
that we’d be lonely forever that no one whatever
fall in love with us to make us feel that the Sun was something they built
for us in their tool shed so broken heartstrings led the blues as we try to
empty ourselves don’t tell me that hurts less than a broken ball she was eight
years old our first day of grade three Chico called ugly
we both got Lisa back to the class hole who stop getting bombarded by spit balls
the school halls were battleground turning ourselves our number day after
wretched day we use the same aside for resistant outsiders first I was siding
on subversion for Hearst running away are they mistakes deal like Steph she
was giving no clues a goober thick and great five they take the signs her yes I
said beer arrows dog to this day despite a loving husband she doesn’t think she’s
beautiful because of a birthmark that takes up a little less than half her
face kids used to say that she looks like a wrong answer there’s someone
trying to erase but couldn’t quite get a job down and they’ll never understand
that she’s raising two kids with definition of beauty begins with the
word mom because they see her heart before this year’s skin because she’s
only ever always been amazing to this day kids are still being called names
hey spaz hey stupid seems like each school has an arsenal names getting
updated every year if you break down oh and no one around chooses a Hugh do
they make a sound are they just stuck on repeat when people say things like just
gonna be cool and you can’t see anything beautiful about yourself get a better
mirror look a little closer stay a little longer because there’s something
inside you that made you keep trying despite everyone who told you to quit
you put the caps around your broken heart and you signed it yourself you
signed it they were wrong because maybe you didn’t belong to a group or a clique
maybe they decided to pick you laughs or basketball everything may be used to
bring bruises and broken teachers Shan’s help I’ve never told because how can you
hold your ground if everyone around you wants to bury you beneath you had to
believe that they were wrong why else would we still be here you grew
up learning to cheer on the underdog because we see ourselves in that we stem
from a root ended in a belief that we are not we
were called we have not abandoned cars stalled out and sitting empty on the
highway and in some way we are don’t worry we only got to walk out and get
gas we are graduating members from the class of we made it not the fatal echoes
of voices crying out name who never heard me of course they did but I
allowed to only ever always continue to be a balancing act Ron we’re done performing so sometimes
in life we have to resort to doing these dreams this part of survival luckily for
us as Americans we are very privileged to not have to think about what we so
nothing said who here has ever heard of her my cookies not a lot of us today
first up going over what my cookies are the process of making them and the
health effects age so before I had to talk about what they are I’m going to
talk about why they did so need about 80% of the population those on about one
to two dollars a day and with the added with added recent continuous actual
disaster that occurred in Haiti the people are able to make money and with
no money means no our economy means people have to resort
to the extremes to eat the most amount of people with the least part of money a
sausage and that’s where my cookies from them so what are my duties
well my computers that’s all in Maine there there makes with vegetable oil
salt and sometimes it’s sugar sometimes sugar so the process of meeting them is
very simple so first the merchants from the town of teaching they show blue
there and in a chocolate upend and they transport it to a nearby market for
example the less elite market where all the poor people and you know and then
exchange those so after they are transported there then sold to women and
we when we mix it up with dirt and as you can see popular vegetable oil and
salt and once they make the pancake type batter there then dry it up on over the
field and this open field is actually called foreign lunch which was an old
prison where portuguese hooker and some have a common open ground for poor
people to come together so after they are dried up there and sold for 5 cents
apiece to mostly children because the almost all executed because they feel
ashamed of having to resort to that type of so the locals call it a long blonde
hairs which is a local name and basically fat athletes to good earth so
and 2008 National Geographic actually a National Geographic reporter actually
tried about either one cookies out what they found was that the moment you bite
into the mud cookies all the moisture just gets sucked out of your mouth
and several hours later the reporters still felt still tasted the lingering
there in his mouth this imagine that these people had to get used to the fact
that they’re eating what they eating what daily basis just to survive I know
I would never be able to do that miss yes I’m very privileged to be able to to
not think about eating the extremes and I believe that’s why it’s important you
guys to be exposed to this type of light underneath so so what cookies posts a
lot of Ultimates and basically dirt contains a lot of deadly diseases
parasites and toxins and as you can see from the woman that was mixing up the
batter the environment which she was making in it was not very clean so a lot
of insects and parasites could get in there and emanate the badness also the
people that are mostly vulnerable to this are women pregnant women and
children children because since they’re very young their immune systems are not
very good all yet exposing themselves to this type of diseases and so on
as already vegan don’t eat it more from pregnant because could already change
their body with another human being in there and their system so they’re
already vulnerable at that so with added effect of mud cookies however a professor an immunology
professor from Colorado University named dr. Callahan believes that because these
people are being exposed to dirt and being eating mud cookies they need to
interact you stronger however it should not their say that there is no
connection and slowly insulted my cookies and eat
something that has no sustenance whatsoever very bad for your health
whatever types of diseases so the I got all my information from a
documentary by National Geographic back in 2008 when I was looking at articles
online I saw some that was elusiveness 2017 and in this can you think that
almost a ventilator nothing has changed these people are still having to live
eating mud cookies and there’s not a lot of exposure about it which is why I
believe it’s important events to be able to see how privileged to go ahead in
this how ridiculous are sad that in the 21st century with Haiti being in the
Western Hemisphere located next to one of the most powerful countries on earth
you can see the full shot socio-economic divide between the two countries the
United States and next up we have Laura mine she’s performing her own
interpretation of the great house clock my famous author Roald Dahl before anyone can migrate stories back
through them all dollars great storyteller and they sort of realized
that you know such as Charlie Chocolate Factory thousand times each mg and which
is the story I’m going to share with you this evening elevators from dolls 1920s

village sweet shop and then we might recognize such a dreary favourites as the at nine years old her name is mrs.

optional and a master’s degree she never welcomed us and the reason and the only
times she’s saucers wears the same things like I’m watching this to keep

raising her blouses bits of breakfast all over those runs these things and fit
supplied angel whose enhance all of us Featherstone dozen was they were
discussing in fact with dirty grimy they be putting lots of coal and don’t forget please though it was
these very hands that she plunged into the sweetest and we asked for pain with
regal all God’s others for toffee or magnums whatever
so we darlin straights the southern gate mouse under the full words of their
classroom they knew exactly what to do with it after a moment of duplication
hold on a tick don’t worry they won’t hesitate
that wasn’t me now we want to be brought myself
one must fight see people truth is more important than notices I was hanging
there for those I and I alone who had the idea of the great and daring mascot
we all have our moments of brilliance and glory then when she wants to do is
he hangs him they stuck me on the back they cheated
me and danced on the classroom well do it today make right you had the idea so
you can put them a summer job greats handed me the most ever school ministry
and headed up tremendously Chester we felt by the Gannicus brothers about to
block the sheriff’s office the wrong train make sure you put in a job which
is used often somebody said I’m going to meet Makabe service and also there is a
neighbor behind Council I’m gonna pay me liquid segues by a boss for one show
that saga and one movements and while she turns away she said if it is a ghost
operation but everything was submerged we were sweating a little as we enter in
the truck we were the victors now and mrs. Paget she stood behind the counter
and the small malignant videos watched us
one should suffer please great simple thing on this penny I get your ear of
the room and as mrs. Cratchit turned away a little bit of a shock the massive
thing I replace the lid silent business or my heart was thumping like mad at my
hands come on sweetie and 1/2 a sneeze I hope they say when I
turned around mrs. Cratchit was holding up the
bootlace in a filthy fingers a domino the luckiest room in here only one is
fine peace out as soon as we were outside the proteins around did you do
it next every organ of Ultima 7 es lo an
informative speech called inside mental illness I don’t many of us may have
sister brother but just imagine if your sister brother was living with Lorenzo
why don’t have to imagine my sister has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder I
know we all have seen movies of the Batman and is currently for the
underlying cause of mental illness we all sometimes make jokes about people
being crazy or nuts all in all whatever they experience it
all have some kind of exposure to mental over there due to my sisters diagnosed
in 1995 I’ve had a growing inches and on this so today I will inform you about
mental illness first I will show you what mental illness is second I will
discuss how this illness doesn’t affect us all
and third I will share with you ways to seek help and get diagnosed in treatment
for yourself family and friends so let’s see am i learning about mental illnesses
the Mayo Clinic refers to mental illness as a wide range variety of mental health
conditions disorders that affect your mood thinking are your behavior anxiety
and depression are the most common forms of incidence
however the runner-up is bipolar disorder bipolar disorder consists of
severe mood swings from highs to lows times our periods of mania excessively
hoffi coffi fast raising balance where Louis our
period is back office and even suicidal now I know we are all of their friends
but what’s going on in the world today I feel that all Presidents and vice
presidents have evaluation disorders I would also like to discuss how this
illness can affect us all according to the Washington Post
Jennifer Lewis yes birth with bipolar disorder he may not know Jennifer Lewis
she’s appeared in over 300 and movies only probably know her best
friend The Fresh Prince of bel-air sister act and my favorite friends is in
the brawl she played Mama Odie you know also
according to the National Institutes of how one and six adults live with mental
illness over 45 million people live work is something young adults aged 18 to 25
are the highest rate for mental illness Larry the diagnosis and treatment for
mental Hardesty vary from person to person depending on the severity of the
illness the treatment is the diagnosis based on a physical exam results and a
mental evaluation the second form of treatment will be medications and
psychotherapy while treating mood disorders are several lots and lots of
medications that can help with mood disorders as well on many facilities in
Long Beach also professional counseling for example you’re not drinking referred
me to a psychiatrist here at Long Beach City College we offer counseling for
world students which is awesome so today I have informed you first about
what mental illness is second how this illness can affect each and every one
goes in here and finally ways to sleep help and get diagnosed with yourself
family or friends in conclusion I would like to tell you
as well that mental illness affects not just millions of people here but people
who know why and when this illness is not treated and it goes untreated
I know it can lead to the depression and that is worse depression can lead to
suicide so remember this should take care of yourself mentally physically and
emotionally house compassion for each other and be kind to one another thank
you now I’d like to welcome up secrets with over 17 million people died of
cardiovascular disease a year that’s one in every three people
I chose to talk about veganism and a few reasons why people decide to go leaving
me people believe that should you get a tutor heredity and your family
originally I started as a pescetarian and hopes of losing weight but once
you’re in love immerse into a culture that’s when you start to learn more
things about it I’m going 620 today what veganism is and talk about how Anthony
and I are connected to diabetes and cancer veganism is a way of living were
you avoid as far as possible any exploitation of animals that includes
wearing any animal products as well as clothing it is proven that the body is
not made to break down any type of animal products and they can cause
damage to you directly animal products consists Mania saturated fats and the
body doesn’t have cells to directly break those down we have so specifically
for breaking out sugars and carbohydrates but not fast it takes 15
to 30 minutes to digest to digest carbohydrates and sugars
it’s up to two days to digest needs majority of the current population is
lactose intolerance this is supporting the fact that
majority are not supposed to eat feet for drinking dairy products 73% of
alligator is actually lactose intolerant ninety-five percent of Asians are
lactose intolerant and 53 inches of Hispanics are lactose intolerant now
let’s talk about how non vegan diets are directly connected to deities deities is
the presence of too much sugar in systems and many people believe that you
can get diabetes from hermit-like through parents or any reasons but it’s
more than that because your body can act out on trees specifically but you can
avoid certain things by the way of living my stated before your body is
make nouns to commit to break down sugars and carbohydrates we have cells
cottage-like agenda that break down carbohydrates and sugars directly
the process of which diabetes occurs that needs occurs when the fat from
animal products are stored into the blood vessels and once the fat is stored
the sugars and carbohydrates can no longer get to the glycogen cells that
break down sugars therefore the sugar just stays in the blood vessels and
travels all the way down to the liver now we’ll talk about how it’s directly
connected to cancer cadenza cancer is a disease which almost self continuously
divided and can’t be destroyed by the tissue you’re more likely to get cancer
from this lose that you eat rather than other thing that you can in your daily
life light smoky animal products can consist of dioxin which cause cancer
they can never get rid of acting and when you can get not rid of docks in two
different ways which is through breast milk or good shopper so your infant is
getting all these hormones directly after birth we run a drink of insurance
our contention during carrying the child of you when you when diagnosed with
cancer if you already have cancer it can
increase their chances or the speed or the rate of breast cancer by 94% an
increased prostate cancer by 34 percent and if you continue 100 percent
I’ve explained to you exactly what veganism is and how its directly created
to house directly connected to diabetes and cancer this will not exist every
unit of going to a vegan diet it was just meant to inform you of how to not
eat a diet can affect you your daily living so thank you next up we have
Jerry aids performing one of Frederick Douglass’s most famous speeches
what’s this lame is a 4th of July the industry of the US has been
oppressed people fighting for threats a prime example of that would be Frederick
Douglass slavery abolitionists formerly enslaved was invited to speak in
Rochester in 1852 on the 4th of July mr. president friends and fellow
citizens he who could address this audience without a quelling sensation as
strong a nerd and I have I do not remember ever as that appeared as a
speaker before the industry of the US has been oppressed people fighting for
rights a prime example of that would be Frederick Douglass slavery abolitionists
formerly enslaved was invited to speak in Rochester in 1852 on the 4th of July mr. president friends and fellow
citizens people could address this audience without a quelling sensation as
stronger than I have I do not remember ever as that appeared as a speaker
before at any assembly more freakin normal pretty of distrust of my ability
and do this game a feeling has crept over me quite unfavorably to the limited
powers of speech all citizens pardon me allow me to ask why am I called upon to
speak his name what have I are those I represent you
with your national independence under great principles of the liberal freedom
and natural justice embodied in that declaration of in
is offended to us and my therefore calls upon to bring our humble offering to the
national altar into competitive benefits and expressed about gratitude for the
blessings resulting in her your independence plus what’s a guy vote for
your sake in the arms and the furniture answer could be truly returned these
questions and with my task alights remember easy and the light bulb but
such as not the state other days I think with a bad sense of this period between
us I’m not included within the pale of this
glorious anniversary your high independence only reveals an ethical
distance between us the rich inheritance of justice liberty prosperity and
independence bequeathed by your father’s is shared by you not by me to sunlight
about lighting and healing to you I thought strikes and opportunity this
fourth of July is yours not hundreds at a time like this scorching irony not
convincing arguments it’s needed Oh had I had the ability and could reach the
nation’s air I would today pour out a fiery stream of fighting ridiculed
blasting reproach withering sarcasm and stern reviews or it is not like that as
needed so fire it is not the gentle shower but
thunder we need the storm the whirlwind and the earthquake the feeling of the
nation must be wakened the conscience of the nation must be roused the propriety
of the nation must be startled the hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed
and its crimes against God and man must be proclaimed and denounced what to the
American slave is your porridge why I the day that reveals to him more than
all other days in the year gross injustice and cruelty to which she is
the constant victim to him your celebration is a sham
there are bolston liberty and unholy license your national greatness swelling
vanity your pals are rejoicing are empty and heartless turn denunciation of
tyrants grass frontage impudence here shouts of equality hollow mockery your
prayers and hymns your sermons and bigs givings with all your religious parade
and solidarity are to him mere bomb blasts fraud deception and piety and
hypocrisy a big bill to cover up crimes with spray some nation of savages there
is not a nation on earth guilty of practices more shocking and
plenty than are the people of the United States at this very hour go where do you
may search waiting will run through all the monarchies and despotisms of the
hobros travel through South America search out every accuse when you have
found the last laying your facts are beside of the everyday practices of this
nation and you will say with me that poor revolting barbarity and
shameless hypocrisy America reigns last but certainly not least I liked
welcome of breakfast performing here by warm a mild last but certainly not least I’d like to
welcome up breakfast performing here by morning I’ll and Nina
happy by Neil Hilbert where are you afraid of snakes spiders flight what
about following your love a lot of people asking me what my biggest fear is
and I know if they expect me to answer like Heights or closed spaces or people
dress like animals but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class
called relationships for life and I learned that most people fall out
of love for the same reason they felt that their lovers once enduring some
earnest has now become refusal to compromise and that their one-track mind
is now a maturity and their bad habits section one’s a door I have money down
the drain their spontaneity because reckless and irresponsible and their
feet on your – no longer sex it’s just another distraction in your busy life
nothing stands and scares me more than the thought that I can become ugly to

stars in each other’s eyes I would like to thank you personally for always

with you is that I never have to brush my teeth right gotcha heard you are
watching you’re the best thing that has happened to me since I was like born you
make me want to do pointless actually though things like learning to play the
flute or voting in the list of things that I love about you maybe the second
or third entry is the way you turn my awful days into awful days the
cheeseburgers I never smashed your face into a whole bunch of cool wet sand you
should because that’s pretty much what is lengthening out of you I’ve never
made out with Jesus before but I imagine that’s kind of like it would be okay
because I’d have rickets with you I would like to thank you for never not
once not ever making fun of me while I cry from watching the same scene from
Parks and Rec for the 25th time I’d like to thank you for letting me fall in love
with you and then deciding to start pop punk band I want to thank you for
listening to all of the mixes that I’ve made you angry telling you at least sort
of like them I always try to be like cool and stuff but it’s hard to act like
I don’t care when you’re so pretty all the damn time okay
the new way to say I love you is to just RAM our foreheads together we can’t

very complicated so please listen carefully to pass your vote

seven up so without further ado I would like to turn over the B so the Speaker
of the House professor carry an order we are ready to entertain the first
affirmative speaker not see the speeches okay thank you guys all for coming to
listen to our debate but appreciate it very much
the resolution is that higher education in the u.s. should be free and a key
definition is that higher education tonight we defined as community college
and public universities our criteria is that one we can prove there are more
benefits and costs we’ve won and the current status quo is that higher
education is currently not universally free in the United States now free
higher education isn’t a new concept that people are just starting to
consider if the fridge BK’s our 19th president of the US was our first
president to push free education for all and I quote in his inaugural address
universal suffrage should rest upon universal education during her
post-world War two the GI Bill granted over two million veterans with free
education and it’s important to know during these times the u.s. experienced
economic growth and boost in productivity and recently a Democratic
presidential candidate by the name of Bernie Sanders
and push the idea of free high education for all however regardless of your
political party affiliation us all being here tonight shows that we all have one
value in common that we value a higher education that will help push our future
students into a better future however courtesy of our higher education
does not offer this opportunity equally and we must ask ourselves the questions
is it ethically acceptable for our students to be granted access to higher
education well the similar performing student is
refused opportunity due to different differing circumstances that these
students were born into now one of the harms of higher education not being free
is that rising costs of higher education are making it difficult for ordinary
Americans to get the school nuts they so desire and need now according to the
Harvard education press anywhere from 10 to 40 percent of students presumed to be
heading to college fail to matriculate any post-secondary institution in the
fall following high school now the reason why this is important a college
education is becoming the new high school diploma and with requirements for
jobs growing higher and higher so this new demand for degree however these high
prices are costs of high school students nationwide to not be able to consider
this option of a higher education and not only that even students who have
been accepted into these colleges are often forced to change their mind due to
a realization that they will not be able to pay for these high prices or student
loan debts later in life another part is that graduates come on the college
struggling to pay out a student loan debts here here now occurring the time
in an article written in 2016 million blog words which is about one in
every six or in default on a total of 56 billion in student debt I mean they have
gone at least a year without making a panel another three million borrowers
owing an approximate total of 66 billion were behind payments quietly stomach and
get another 3 million owing a hundred and ten billion dollars worth
forbearance or deferment meaning that they had received permission does these
payments do financial emergencies such as unemployment now why is important
student loan debts can often get in the way of achieving such goals that a
student worked so hard for in college and a student who graduates and has
expensive student loans to start paying off immediately might not be able to be
patient for the right job in which they studied for and instead has to accept a
lower paying job that is out of their fields now when you look at it from the
nationwide the few we are shorting our economy of a significant number of
skilled workers that would help contribute to the country’s economic
prosperity additionally many young people will then
go on and life starting to purchase home get married or have kids you peasant be
student loan debts used to blame the government federal financial aid
colleges then see this as an opportunity to raise tuition prices at a faster rate
and inflation our plan is to make tuition for community colleges and
public universities in the US universally freedom other Casta gist
food housing and textbooks will still be charged one of the leading options for
funding is in attacks on Wall Street speculators at
one of the biggest supporters of this is Bernie Sanders in which under his plan
he proposes that we tax high frequency trades which make billions of dollars
but don’t socially contribute to the economy and these high frequency trades
would he tax at 0.5 the sector stocks and 0.1% for bonds not only will this
create more revenue for colleges but this would also encourage or productive
trades to be made now a benefit of having 3 education is that having
universal access higher education allow for more people that get a degree that
will help give them better chances at earning a higher paying job in an
article in The New York Times would say it was say that that Americans with
four-year college degrees made 98% more an hour on average in 2013 than people
without a degree therefore is blatant that earning a
higher education will lead to greater economic prosperity in future years and
by having more people earning higher wages more money will be returned back
into the economy and not only will our economy benefit but we as a society will
benefit you know more passionate people who can contribute because they are more
educated will have more educated architects doctors and engineers and
other highly skilled jobs Thank You audience result is that the higher
education in us should be I agree with all definitions their head and criteria
is improved there are more austin venomous and
one need uh something about like everyone having and they need to be they
can go out from their job the more qualified college grants will reduce
pain for all why do you oppose what is the purpose according to the Pew
Research Center it is to help the students wrote personally intellectually
and teach work related skills to apparent want to join the workforce
there are already tons of college graduates that are competing for the
same few tops please so they become Testament well
take a lower pay admission opponent we go to college so we get that higher
patient why else would anyone spend hours on MyMathLab trying to figure out
what the process so I can get paid so we can get paid think of as anyone ever
think the working life those of you could have paid line or play game of
mine over at Walmart they stopped for 20 bucks so in that game life there’s a
certain section make sense we can go over to apology me but you
have college path or a cheap recap you can pretend okay twenty thousand dollars
when you go through that college now you get to pick out of the special every
part for the higher salary and cooler drops the more people do that the less
those jobs will happen that’s what separates us the college people the
people that go to college unrest it kind of eats the participant
knowledge by sending us is instead of four years it could take longer we’re
putting a lot on the line for the education that we see those laws we have
is a constant of why we can’t fail this is a drive to
finish and on time and past as possible that many people would abuse the
education system the Community College structure is at 47% according to the
National Student Clearinghouse who does annual reports on college completion as
soon as possible that this percentage rate with behind with as students went
really nothing to lose out of reasons of one trust websites who attend who
attended this institution back in about 2007 2008 he now works as a professor at
Rowan University sorry the Rowan University and all my friends
attendance to the university is free and he has explained to me the difference in
student autonomy as opposed to college here I hope I have had a few students
take my classes once more times it’s hard for me to do my job when some of
these students don’t have a will to learn much pieces need that extra money
that extra pressure that’s scary law we have to pay back moving wasting
taxpayers money on those gifts from one take school more seriously brings me to
my next point who’s gonna pay free college that sounds
great right but nothing is really free Bernie Sanders proposed tax lawsuit and
he and the others were both attacks the 1% it’s the reason why the ones there is
wider rich is because a higher the reason why you hire someone
because they create surplus salary the definition of service admin is excess
value produced by the labor of workers over the wages they are paid and they
don’t create circle styling food and you happen you know hire them for example I
was hired to install home theater system and they could do it themselves in one
apartment I created service value for them because it frees up up to do things
push you can be a great I paid a super signing for those by creating the
servers I mean by taxing them they won’t they don’t take bosses instead they’re
closed down their branches and more people will lose their jobs make the paw
report and who will pay tax payers know pasta is already diminishing America is
already enough financial stream reporting to the u.s. debt pot we are in
21 trillion dollars of debt and by free education may possibly collapse our
economy the people who have fun get test Billy
or worse stop investing won’t even sell down their business
those people who leave us reading one of the reasons why this movie has talks
education what they manage America’s economy and this good evening everyone
thank you for coming here today and hearing our debates
our resolution is higher education in the u.s. to be free when we can provide
more benefits and costs than you have money now I’m going to review so the
negative when I get on personal intellectually ability later on in life
which we need to UM to my first harm student loan debt off enforces college
graduates to the other parents and delay marriage right advertiser dependence and
other out of all particles agrees with 2015 federal research study thirty or
thirty year olds who have never taken out a student loan
all right now more likely to own homes and though
about taking out loans auto loans are also training down pasture-raised for
those with student deaf history and those without in 2013 student loan
borrowers delayed retirement savings by 14% car purchases by 40% home purchases
paid 29% and marriage by 15% less than 50% of women and 30% of men had passed
the transition into adulthood milestones and age of 30 finishing school moving
out and getting married and having children in 1960 77 percent of women and
65 percent of men had completed those milestones right son well back then
college is thousands and thousands way cheaper than what it is now and with a negative mentioned that they
will use the education system that’s just a policy you can’t you can’t put
all those students in one how do you what about the ones who are gonna work
harder because education is free people on more student loans and credits my
heart number 2 / – it should not being free as many students do not graduate in
ways their own and the government’s money according to the US Department of
Education about 90% of students who enroll in college do not return to the
second here overall 41 percent of students at four-year colleges and
universities did not graduate within the six years or 81 percent of public
schools the federal government allocated one 176 point 83 billion for college
loans grants tax benefit and one sentence in 2013 state
government spent eighty one point two billion supporting public colleges of
2012 students who started out with degrees in the fall of 2002 but did not
graduate within the six years accounted for 3.8 billion in lost income 566
million in lost income taxes and 164 million in lost state income taxes in
one year the governing experience heights dollars from non-college
graduates then from college graduates who have higher wages students who drop
out during the first year of college cost is 1.3 billion in the federal
government 300 million per year in recent student grant programs and
government Opera appropriations of college this is with education is not
being free now to my benefit more alone lower-income students might reach our
nation’s some students drop out because they do not have the ability to pay per
tuition all four years making college tuition free would eliminate this reason
for not graduating this were also served to improve College’s graduation rates as
fewer students would feel the need to talk to part-time notice or take a break
from education or financial crunch reasons according to the US Department
of Education in 2014 59% dry June with the bachelors grants and scholarships
lower class and then the middle class 41% graduated with a bachelor’s when
they receive grants and scholarships and 38% upper class with bachelor’s and all
the bachelors also we see threatens and scholarships now should I benefit number two students
might have more friends to choose a major they actually not whether it is
the influence of parents knowing you need to paint loans back as good as
possible current students are often arms and guided toward our two majors now I
have a more on the from they have more financial stability to pay back your
loans and shelling out thousands of thousands of dollars is no longer a
factor parents of students might not have make they make them more relaxed
about studying or major I don’t necessarily have a large paycheck
associated with them insured associated with them intrusive enjoyment for my
field of study goes a long way and hope you student stick with it instead of
burning out now it’s made very benefit a happier and healthier lives one of the
most important benefits of Education aside proofs personalized and hopf
societies run smoothly we live monitored folder and I’ve utilized I’ve learned in
knowledgeable individuals according to Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development as you picked people um we’re actively involved in various
societies such as Bodhi volunteering political interest and interpersonal
trust education is essentially improving our lifestyles and overall well-being
because it makes us aware of what we know will be to do we need happier lives
with a knowledge of accumulating and he and the skills he acquired through our
education our educational years have you people are healthier people the less
expensive expectancy of those who are educated longer on average than those
who are lacking in their education this is my education is to be free for all
here here there’s free tuition in Germany Finland and I
Andres a student from from Germany says I love that being for school I focus
more on my class and school work it’s an honor to receive free education hi guys
um I would like to start by thanking all areas today
resolution is higher education in the United States b3 I agree with um Ruby on
Mark Lawson benefits and the Abunda debate the great status quo is a higher
education is currently not free in the United States
alright and I would like to start by refuting a statement that easy that
thing that uh free college will allow many more individuals to attend college
and make a better society although many more individuals will have that chance
to attend college it will encourage many students to waste their time and become
extremely unmotivated according to jet jet GOP and award
winning columnist for the Boston Globe since 1984 he thinks that in an ax
legislation that allows anyone who to college on a taxpayer’s on will see more
unrelated Austrian whose time would be far better spent elsewhere the
overconsumption of higher education is already pronounced just fifty nine
percent of college students at four-year institutions managed to earn adieu
in six years today’s law students need a lot less in colleges what’s it if closed
becomes free even more people can attend college without bothering become
educated or without acquiring any economic economic leaning meaningful
skills this means then yes many more individuals will attend college this
does not mean that it will provide benefits our society or economy students
will not dress meaningful skills and waste most of their time in factories all right a lot another benefit I would
like to review is stated by DZ saying that because justice needed in other
countries a low free college to succeed in other countries their demographics
and populations differ from us in the United States according to New Year
according to every Texan a graduate from Young University with a degree in
political science she states that many European countries like Germany already
offer free college they do so for many students regardless of family income
level but three is a relative term since taxpayers absorb that cost
European countries differ greatly from the US and substantial ways their
college enrollment percentages percentages are much lower than America
Europe also traditionally has higher taxes in the US making college bringing
the United States would take a completely different role in how its
managed in other countries although they are successful the you guys simply will
not be able to carry that heavy load another benefit I would like to argue
and that free cause allows people with low incomes it’s alright so yes many low
income students will be able to attend but they have a higher chance of
and according to Ellison stronger and economists and writer she said that in
America free tuition can increase enrollment among poor experience but
without adequate supply incorporation many struggle and drop out without
getting much value from college free choice should certainly have some people
but it’s not the most efficient use of money yet the goal is to increase access
to university access university education and reduce the debt of poor
and middle-class families currently families end up paying based on their
income which means Richard students and export students a free tuition model is
extremely regressive because it gives Richard students a subsidy and places a
bigger burden on course good why not open them with the cost of living and
mother things like that books everything like up a price based on ability to pay
sure it’s earning more early which is what we’re using right now because
families pay for college based on their eat them wealthy students substantially
subsidize low income students free cause not every class of living and other
needs which drastically hurts poor student but gives Richards a free hand
up making college priced based on the ability to pay and roll I’m sorry making
college priced based on the ability to paint n roll allow the burdens of all
evening on all groups ok so allowing higher education to be free
will flood the system and you value your degree and I know a lot of you out there
have some degrees so according to Morgan Alexander little science music upload
assignment from UCLA boy you know college system devadasi degree he would
close for many reasons but the biggest one is together
and the dog poops good for you and set yourself apart from others who want the
same career as yourself and talk working is much more competitive now than it’s
ever been can you imagine thousands of more people
with the same degree of – competing for the same job how are you going to be
made more employable than others your education can only go so high and with
so many people getting the same one there’s not going to be enough room for
employment more people with the same degree equals less value to your degree
many of you in this room works long and grueling hours obtain the degree you
have imagine working that art where you’d agree to be almost meaningless most not all of us here attend work or
graduated from a community college by making higher education free Community
College was simply collapsed and I know many of you do not kind of losing a
career anything Sam Gary Olsen a columnist on higher education
administration for the Chronicle of Higher Education writes this state’s
community college would be endangered many students attend community colleges
because of the low tuition if state institute institutions where tuition
free there would be no incentive to attend the local community college
consequently the community positive also experienced a steep drop in development
and in enrollment sorry with this being said allowing higher education to be
free would hurt all of us in the long run we’re here today to discover learn
and appreciate times the students from our Community College here at LBCC it
would be a shame if we put eight artists Laura and beloved school down I used to believe that education should
be free do you have a degree sir yes I’m pretty sure you have it on your
office on the wall when you look at it and you’re like I earned that I paid for
that you work hard for it it will diminish education don’t diminish our
education don’t make sure it stays very personal so I’m going to start by
rebutting the second negative argument with three months one argue that
students will not take college seriously if it’s free and that is a valid point
there are going to be students who will not take their education pretty busy not
pay for but should their character determine whether a student who would
give a shirt off their back be able to get an education now in addition to that
she has stated that tuition is often priced based on an income now what she
lucked out with that lower classes are the ones who get the most help and being
that the middle class is the largest class of our society the middle class is
often left out because most of the funding goes to the lower class and
lastly targeting that Community College would disappear she’s forgetting one
thing it’s a named community that education
would be free Universal many students might not want to leave the comfort of
their homes and instead have certain ties socially so their family to their
job I want them to stay local and support their local community now
there’s many benefits to a free higher education one it makes it so that
everyone is granted the access to better their future because what makes someone
that was born in Chesterton life condition more valuable and more
guaranteeing Tim education someone he was born into less fortunate
circumstances not only are we leveling the playing field
but we’re bettering our chances as a society because movies when we send more
educated people into our workforce we are going to produce better results and
have a better functioning society that is more knowledgeable about how to go on
about the future I believe this was not scripted they do not know what the other
team is going to be saying they have not debated this before they got this debate
topic in just a couple of weeks ago and I think that they did a great job
tonight for the team that you think debated the strongest regardless of what
you personally think or feel about the topic okay so I am Canasta we go old
school kindergarten on this close our eyes and so those of you that vote for
the affirmative team please raise your hands and keep your hands up while we
count the votes raise your hands the winners one by two evening through all our amazing speakers
